ATD Fourth World’s mission in Thailand is to bridge the gap and foster closer ties between the poorest families and the mainstream society to break down chronic poverty and social exclusion.

This mission can be translated into the following objectives :

• reaching out to individuals and families living in extreme poverty and building a long-term relationship with them to obtain a better understanding of their daily lives, difficulties and aspirations

• sharing this understanding with other people and organisations

• gaining insights into the efforts developed in Thailand to fight poverty such as initiatives from the civil society or measures of public authorities

• identifying the conditions necessary to support the families in their own initiatives and their desire to participate in the society

• coordinating and working alongside other NGOs and institutions in Thailand

• recruiting volunteers for the various actvities in Thailand.

Since 1981, ATD Fourth World has been actively present in slum communities in Bangkok.
