Two members of the ATD Fourth World Thailand team attended the ICSD (International Consortium for Social Development) Conference on "Globalization, Development and Human Security in the Asia-Pacific Region" that was held at Thammasat University’s Learning Resort, Pattaya Campus, Chonburi, October 18-20, 2006. They presented a contribution ("The challenge of including the poorest in a globalizing and developing world - the experience of Atd Fourth World, an international NGO") to try to illustrate the situation and the hopes of several very poor families we know both in Thailand and the Philippines. The conference gave them the opportunity to meet and to exchange with Thai academics doing research on poverty in Thailand and to visit, during a field trip prepared by the organizers, different social development projects in Pattaya and Rayong.
